Yves Saint Laurent Resort 2012-Inspired Nails

The sweet vintage poppy print on this Yves Saint Laurent Resort 2012 dress screamed nails to me. I knew the bright abstracted red and yellow flowers would lend themselves to the inexact science of nail art. For the look I started with a base of Essie Chinchilly, then created polka-dots of various sizes with Sally Hansen Lightening yellow and Essie Vermillionaire. Black seedpod and petal details were essential to differentiate each flower. There's something about these flowers that still make me smile.

DIY: Wall-Mounted Bulb Lamp

My room suffers from the curse of someone who got overzealoused about energy-safe bulbs and thus has a bright sterile white glow. A little trip to Ikea and a lot of help from Mark created the perfect little lamp to solve the problem. We used an Ikea wall bracket, Ikea lamp cord, and a standard silver bowl bulb and drilled three notches to hold the cord, all for about $10. How do you think it goes with my YSL Manifesto print?

Leopard Nails by Sally Hansen Nail Effects

My love for nail art, leopard print, and drug store makeup all collided this weekend with a fun DIY project. It also just so happened that it was so cold out that the only option was to cozy up inside, spend probably too much time doing nails, and watching movies. These Sally Hansen Nail Effects Polish Strips are a clear rip on Minx and OPI's Chic Prints for Sephora, but they're cheaper and available at your friendly Duane Reade so I was sold. The application process was not as easy as I had hoped and I was skeptical of them even lasting through the weekend, but here I am 4 days later, still loving the perfect metallic leopard print. Next time I'll go for the denim print for a complete Texas tuxedo.

YSL Spring 2011 with Arizona Muse

I love the Spring/Summer 2011 YSL ads shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadinin Marrakech. I'm not totally sold on the buzz around Arizona Muse, but she killed this campaign. Fingers crossed the next YSL Manifesto features some of these images.

SIGRID STRIKES AGAIN

It's been another busy couple of months for the season's most in-demand girl, Sigrid Agren. Proving that the industry's love affair with ultra-glamorous and classically beautiful girls is far from over, October's NUMERO saw her channel noirish elegance in Sebastien Kim's 'Shadows' story, and now she is upping her campaign tally for the season in the gorgeous new shots for YSL Beauty's Holiday 2009...
