Jason Wu Fall 2010 Outerwear

Jason Wu is cementing his position as a fashion industry darling and while his designs are sometimes too sweet for me, I am obsessed with the outerwear from his Fall 2010 collection. I always gravitate towards parka shapes or oversized blazers and he took both and updated them with his signature ladylike style.

Organic by John Patrick Fall 2010

I have always been a fan of John Patrick's slightly retro sensibilities and subtle sex appeal. Every season he seems to get better and better and his Fall 2010 collection is proof of that. Inspired by what he called a Joni Mitchell/Sloan Ranger woman, he designed some great suiting pieces in mixed prints and added flirty fun dresses. I think the leather pleated minidress is going to be a piece to watch as it showed up at Jen Kao as well. My absolute favorite is the floral print suit he seems to include every season. I'm dying for the chance to wear a full-on floral suit and when it arises, I will seize it.

Jen Kao Fall 2010

Jen Kao gets bigger and bigger every season and with good reason; she knows exactly what's cool at the moment. For her first runway show, she added knits, fur, color, and evening wear to her usual black jersey and silk mix and it worked out perfectly. Said to be inspired by natural elements like pyrite, her signature boudoir detailing always adds a sexy edge. The front row filled with the likes of LSD, Julia RR, and Becka Diamond and the amazing Eddie Borgo jewelry doesn't hurt either. Hopefully I'll post a pic of the earring they handed out this season soon- it's already in permanent rotation.

EGLE'S GOT CLASS

These campaigns just keep on coming! Check out catwalk regular Egle Tvirbutaite in the new Class Roberto Cavalli campaign. Only Egle’s super strong features could compete with such bold, graphic prints and heavy jewellery..we know we’re supposed to be looking at the clothes but we just can’t help ourselves!

COMING SOON: THE ROMANA SHOW

Wonderland by George Mavrikos

Our network friends in central Europe have a great record when it comes to spotting the cream of Czech and Slovakia’s glacial beauties, and following on from finds including Barbora Dvorakova and Michalea Hlavackova we’re thrilled to have another editorial wonder in common with them. Romana Umrianova is just getting started but in a few short months she’s already shot L’Officiel, Vanity Fair with Tim Walker, and now she’s clocked some fabulous Wonderland pages too, in a Henry Holland/Levi's special shot by George Mavrikos. Watch this face!

WHO NEEDS REALISM?

Elite’s redhead supermodel, Olga Sherer turns cover girl once again for the Spring/Summer 2010 issue of Dansk magazine. Olga sets the tone for the theme of the magazine which rhetorically asks its readers ‘who needs realism?’.

Even with a flash of stocking, a leather bra and a not so restrained Versace outfit, we can’t take our eyes off those cheek bones!

Astronauts Twitter from Space

All of these images came from Japanese Astronaut Soichi's Twitter account, @Astro-Soichi. From the looks of it, when he comes back down to Earth, he could be quite the amateur Twitter photographer.

The images are of Bucharest, Romania; Bahrain; Space Shuttle Endeavour; Hokkaido, Japan; New Orleans; and the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

Beautifully interesting vintage brass necklaces from AK Vintage.

FLY BY NIGHT

Squeezing in a few editorials before her sure to be incredible show season, Dorothea Barth-Jorgensen stars in W magazine this month. We were completely enchanted by this dreamy editorial, shot by Craig McDean and with the upcoming release of the movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’ we have a suspicion we are in for a summer of gingham, bows, frills and floral!

Boy Band of Outsiders Spring 2010

After using an impressive cast of leading ladies including Michelle Williams, Kirsten Dunst, Sarah Silverman, and Marisa Tomei, Scott Sternberg chose the hilarious Leslie Mann for his Spring 2010 Boy Band of Outsiders lookbook. Sternberg traded out the Chateau Marmont for Marina Del Ray and added a few pieces of eye candy, Dave Franco (yes, that Franco) and Donald Glover (now of Community).

I only wish that instead of Polaroids, it were a video of Mann being all funny and stuff.

CAMPAIGNS OF THE MONTH!

We love it when new campaigns start appearing in our favourite glossies ...especially if they feature our girls and here are our top two for this month (if like us, Vogues barely hits the stands before it’s in your hands you’ve probably seen them already!)
French mademoiselle Adama Diallio has done us proud in this fresh, colourful shoot for Paul Smith shot by the legend himself. This is the first campaign for Adama and if this is just the start, who knows who she’s going to be the face of next?
Getting just one of our models in a big name campaign is exciting but having two in one is quite an achievement. Put together some elite supermodels, photographer Steven Meisel and makeup pro Pat McGrath and you can’t really go wrong! We LOVE this playful Alberta Ferreti campaign featuring elite superstars Dorothea Barth-Jorgensen and catwalk queen Constance Jablonski who are defying gravity to show us that purple is the shade to be seen in this Spring/Summer 2010 (lets hope Topshop do a similar version!)

Shipley & Halmos Fall 2010

Shipley & Halmos' Fall 2010 collection is out and it is once again amazing. The title, Actions vs. Containment, hints at their nice mix of masculine and feminine elements. Inspirations included futurism, Pink Floyd, and Robert Longo for this beautifully complete collection. It also reminds me how desperately I've been wanting a varsity jacket and an oversized fur-collar jacket like the ones they showed.

FASHION WEEK SURVIVAL GUIDE: PART TWO

As promised here's part two of our top models guide to surviving the fashion week month...we're not sure if the beautiful Charlotte Di Calypso has convinced us enough to swap lattes and carbs for fruit and the gym but its nice to know where we're going wrong anyway!

Part two: Charlotte Di Calypso
What is your trick to staying energetic and healthy during the fashion month?: Well, during the shows it's hard to follow a special regime. It's important to eat everyday of course because we have a really hard month and need energy! So first I try to have a good breakfast with fruits and yoghurts or eggs, something that gives you energy for the whole day. And then when I know that I'll have a busy day and no time to eat I always take with me some fruits (like apple and banana, something easy to eat) and some wholemeal bread. But I think finally, for me, the best thing to give me energy is my family. Always there to encourage me. Its so important.
During the fashion month, you’re running from one show to the next. What is your trick to keeping your skin clear with so many constant makeup changes?: As soon as a show is done, I'll take off all my makeup and put my really rich cream which I take with me all the time.
What do you normally eat during the fashion month? Are there any good snack foods that you keep in your handbag during the shows?: Not really...As I said before I take some fruits and bread or cereal bars in my bag. Something easy and practical!
What are the top three beauty items you can’t live without during the fashion month?: My repair cream from Avene which is really good for dry skin. I also put on all of the time, on my lips a lipstick from Elizabeth Arden and a concealer from MAC when my skins getting irritated and a bit red.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given about surviving a month of fashion shows?: I think the best thing is to be yourself, and not stress.
How do you prepare for a month of fashion shows?: I try to sleep a lot before! And I go to the gym, where I do exercises to prepare my knees and ankles for all the shows ahead.

CHANEL ♥ SIGRID

It doesn’t get much more fabulous then a Chanel fragrance campaign... especially when featuring girl of the moment Sigrid Agren. This pink, girly dream of a shot is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy which Sigrid pulls off with effortless, youthful charm. Its hard to believe just how many campaigns Sigrid has under her belt but we have to say this is one of our favourites! We can reveal that the girl herself will be making her London Fashion Week debut next week...expect nothing less than a stellar season from this true Elite supermodel!

J.Crew Collection Spring 2010 Lookbook

J.Crew traded in Erin Wasson for Magdalena Frackowiak for their latest lookbook. The combination of denim shirts, sweatshorts, sequins, draping, mod pants, and scalloped ruffles are all on-trend (not all the same trend, though). The pieces look like they could be taken apart and added to any wardrobe for a little refresher. I also like the gold boat shoes, they're perfectly obnoxious.
