Svpply Suprises

Two new outfit combos inspired by my new favorite website, Svpply. Addicted much? Yes. Why? Because it corrals my haphazard online shopping habits into one aesthetically pleasing database. It's community-driven, but not oppressive to boot.

City Island: Out of Long Island Sound, Into the Fryer

A couple of weeks ago we took a day trip to City Island, one of the most weirdly unique and charming places in the city. The island is a completely obscure enclave located just off the Bronx, an old fishing community filled with adorable small houses, tiny beaches, a creepy cemetery, and seafood restaurants. We walked amongst the graves, searched for shells and sea glass on a beach so small it might not even count, and almost froze to death trying to get the kite to fly with a fly fishing rod. After working up an appetite for a seafood feast, we went to Johnny's Famous and ended up in a zoo for Bronx locals with a taste for fry batter. After a few too many donuts in an empty lot, we headed back in a cloud of mist to fall asleep with a bottle of wine, watching Blue Velvet. To be fair, only I fell asleep.

3 Tie-Front Dresses

1. Weekend: Mociun Jersey Tie Dress, $225, at Store.mociun.com
2. Event: Karen Walker Statue Striped Dress, $704, at Creaturesofcomfort.us
3. Office: Bodkin Twister Tie Shirtdress, $330, at Bonadrag.com
Last summer I was obsessed with tie-front dresses and tops. Thankfully designers were on the same page and a year later there are some great ones available for every occasion. Most likely this will just find me yet again tying the front of button-ups and knotting the sides of tee shirts, which isn't too bad either.

Cynthia Rowley for Roxy- I Need Neoprene

I was immediately excited when Cynthia Rowley first announced her collaboration line with Roxy. Billed as surf wear with Rowley's signature girly twist that you can wear in and out of the waves, I knew I would love it. Technically speaking I love anything with neoprene. The result is something like Lisa Marie Fernandez's chic take on surf wear, but less overtly sexy. The line will be available at Barney's and Colette, but I just discovered that you can buy them now on Roxy.com as well. I obviously want it all, but the pencil skirt is too much to pass up.

The Thaw

Now that we are deep in the midst of the thaw, the weather in NYC has gotten warmer, hot even, outside seating has hit every cafe, and seemingly everyone is out on the streets or sitting in parks, friends have started making summer arrangements. I sadly had to pass on a Hamptons house, but hearing about Memorial Day plans, Sole East stays, and wild Montauk weekends has me planning the only way I know how; swimsuit shopping. Tori Praver's collection is the perfectly understated while still extremely sexy. The tiny floral print on the high-waisted briefs has a hint of '90s without being obnoxious and you know how I feel about leopard. I think next weekend will be my first dip in a pool and I wish I were wearing these.

EML'S HIGHLAND FLING!

Well, not exactly, but we did have a brilliant time in Scotland this weekend as the Elite Model Look tour pitched up in Glasgow's Buchanan Galleries.

We were thrilled to meet so many gorgeous girlies on EML's first foray north of the border and big congrats to Eilidh, Chloe, Misha and Natalie - our four top finds who'll be joining the EML National Casting in July.

Thanks also to our beautiful sponsors - Samsung's DIVA inspired our contestants on the catwalk and once again the Warehouse Style Studio was a big hit, while Eylure had us all a-flutter with the sellout of the day, Cheryl Cole lashes!!! Special thanks to Toni & Guy Essensuals in Glasgow who let us borrow their wonderful stylists Dasha and Alan. Visit www.elitemodellook.co.uk to find out about all of our sponsors and how we are working with them on EML.

Early arrivals wait for their hair moment at Buchanan Galleries
