It's Time for T4!

Excitement levels have reached an all time high here at Elite because only tomorrow stands in between us and T4 on the Beach on Sunday! The clock's ticking away and we are literally counting down the minutes until we're there in our Elite Style Tent for the chance to enter the famous model search competition Elite Model Look But don't feel left out if you're not keen on modelling, we will also have the Warehouse Style Studio, some lovely and free eyelashes from Eylure and lots of chances to win goodies including mobile phones, shopping sprees and tickets to our very glamorous fashion show in London! Or just come and say hi, we're all nice I promise!

Malibu Beach, Long Island

Because I will not be going on a beach vacation this 4th of July Weekend, here are a few pics from when we went to Malibu. This Malibu may be in Long Island, but it is just as pretty.

Happy birthday, America!

Aveda Trend Report - Jason Wu 2011Resort Collection

Aveda Trend Report Jason Wu 2011 Resort Collection. Jenn Chiminiello, Master Stylist at Aveda Vandam Street Lifestyle Salon in New York City, created an updated braid using Aveda Control Force™ Hair Spray at the Jason Wu Resort 2011 show in New York.

“The Jason Wu hair look for Resort 2011 is a slightly tousled, modernized braid that is both innocent and sexy. The freshness of the braid complements the romantic florals and pretty plaids in Jason’s collection.” —Jenn Chiminiello for Aveda

HOW TO GET THE LOOK:

1. Prep damp hair with Aveda Brilliant™ Damage Control™ to add shine and protect hair from the hazards of heat styling. Then massage Aveda Phomollient™ Styling Foam from roots to ends to add body. Blow-dry with a round brush, curling the ends of hair under as you dry.

2. Use a comb to create a messy part wherever hair parts naturally. For extra volume at the crown, backcomb the roots with a fine-toothed comb.

4. Divide hair into two side sections and one back section. Create a tight braid with the back section of hair and secure at the end with a clear elastic band.

5. Take the left section of hair and lace through the braid, securing at the bottom with a clear elastic band, on top of the elastic already holding the braid. Repeat with right section of hair.

front of the face and secure with bobby pins at each side of the braid, behind the ears. Secure other loose strands into the braid as needed.

7. Finish by spraying the braid liberally with Aveda Control Force™ Firm Hold Hair Spray to keep hair steadily in place.

AVEDA PRODUCTS USED

Aveda Phomollient™ Styling Foam (S.R.P. $14)

Aveda Brilliant™ Damage Control™ (S.R.P. $15)

Aveda Control Force™ Hair Spray (launching in June 2010; S.R.P. $26)

Q: What was your inspiration for this look? How did you collaborate with the designer to create the look?

“Jason’s collection was inspired by the look of the dewy pixie girls who graced the covers of 1960’s fashion magazines. The updated braid we created for the show reflects that fresh and youthful feel.” —Jenn Chiminiello for Aveda.

Q: How could a woman achieve this look on her own?

“This style looks pretty and fresh for daytime and super romantic for evening. To keep the look from going flat, apply Aveda Phomollient™ Styling Foam to damp hair, massaging from roots to ends, and blow dry with a round brush. Then divide hair into two side sections and one back section. Create a tight braid with the back section of hair, securing with an elastic. Wrap pieces of hair from each side through the braid, securing with an elastic at the bottom of the braid. To keep the style in place, spray liberally with Aveda Control Force™ Firm Hold Hair Spray.”

—Jenn Chiminiello for Aveda.

Our Diamond in Dior

These brand new pictures of  FeiFei Sun have caught the eyes of all of us here at Elite London.  Posing in head-to-toe Dior for the July edition of Vogue Korea the black and white photographs have a distinct nostalgic presence about them, evoking a sense of mid-twentieth century fashion, mixed with a an extra splash of sexiness.
Our stunning FeiFei strikes poses that scream elegance, class and mystique while these gorgeous garments are making us crave Dior like never before!

Beautiful 'Boogie Nights' Nostalgia

Elite's own Katy Dron looks amazing in this shoot inspired by the film 'Boogie Nights' and is without a doubt the perfect model for the job! With A fur coat by Maison Martin Margiela and stockings by Jonathan Aston, the essence of the film, set in the late seventies and early eighties, is captured perfectly.

Photographer Alice Rosati has said that she and Stylist for the shoot Roberta Venturini were determined to use Roberta's own rollerskates (seen in the picture above) for the shoot after deciding on the 'Boogie Nights' theme, but found it difficult to find a model to fit the bill. That is until our Katy came along.

So take Katy's lead... just a few staple designer pieces can be paired with finds from the market and those old necklaces you thought you'd lost, and before you know it you'll have a great outfit with a vintage feel which has been brought bang up to date!

DIY Inspiration: Beach Terrariums

For a while I was obsessed with lush green, mossy terrariums, then came my love for bowls filled to the brim with cacti and sand which will never die out. Now I've moved on to sand terrariums with pristine white sand, pebbles, beachy accents, and air plants. Time for a new weekend project.

The Kekey to your Summer wardrobe...

Hawaiian beauty Keke Lindgard takes high fashion to a skate park in this hot editorial for the July issue of Vogue Germany. Striking the perfect balance between couture and street style, Keke channels her inner punk and pulls off one of our favourite shoots of the Summer, the perfect antidote to beachwear... clearly somebody has finally realised we don’t all spend our Summer lounging around in bikinis and need some inspiration for sizzling city looks to see us through the season.

Belmont Stakes, Two on the 13

A couple of weekends ago I went to the Belmont Stakes with Mark's family. They're a horse racing family and I know nothing about the track, but I got some good tips on betting, the most important of which is to never listen to Uncle Jimmy, he's trying protect the odds on the horses he bet on. After a few bites of delicious fried chicken to cure my hangover and a Pimms Cup or two I definitely got into the action. Jimmy of course won the trifecta on the Belmont and I lost all $5 I had bet.
